Review
One of the first two Zoids I imported, Death Saurer was always an intriguing Zoid to me, even since I first saw its depiction in Zoids Chaotic Century.
At first the Death Saurer seems like he'll take a while to build, given his size, but he's really not as complex as one might imagine. It took me longer to build the Geno Breaker that I bought along with him!
Once built he stands quite tall, with a long tail, which makes him a bit of a space hog when on display, but he does look quite formidable.
When the batteries are in, and Death Saurer is switched on, he walks forward with a smooth, but slow gait, and swings his tail from side to side. Other motorized features include moving arms and an opening and closing mouth. Additionally, a fan in the Death Saurer's back, connected to the motor via an elastic band, spins, and lights in his eyes flash.
The manual features include a opening missile pod in the back, semi-posable hands, an opening cockpit in the belly, and, possibly my most favourite feature, the main opening cockpit in the head.
I love the head cockpit design. My only qualm is that when you try to open it, you have to reposition the nose gun for it to open completely.
It's a common misconception among those fans that got their knowledge of Death Saurer from the anime, that the Death Saurer kit scale is different to that of the other Zoids. It is in fact, the same.
The model kit version is actually the proper size in comparison to the other Zoids, it's just that the anime scaled the Zoid up to make it look more like the formidable Zoid of destruction that the script called for.
I highly recommend Death Saurer, but what must be taken into consideration is that he has now been discontinued, so he's likely to be asking for a higher than normal price, and, most likely, will need to be imported, which adds another problem as his box is one of the biggest out there, so shipping will burn.
But if you have the money, and the space, add Death Saurer to your shopping list!
