Review
Despite the mould change to the missile launchers, preventing them from being fired, Krark is my favourite out of the Salamander versions.
His colourscheme appeals to me more than any of the others does. I really dig that shade of red, and it contrasts nicely with the silver.
When the motor is activated, Krark walks forward, spreading his wings and and opening his mouth, and his tail swings from side to side.
Manual wise, his only features are guns with limited posability. Regretably, as mentioned earlier, Krark was denied the ability to fire his missiles, when Tomy decided to swap his spring loaded missile set, for one with the missiles actually moulded in to the launchers...
Bit of a disappointment there... I heard it was something to do with safety regulations.
Also the head and mouth can be raised/opened manually using a little part in the back of the neck. I guess you could also count that as a manual feature, although it wasn't intended to be.
As stated earlier, besides the missile change, I still think Krark is the best Salamander variant. He's really worth getting your hands on if you can, but he can be pricey, and complete models in good condition are hard to find (My own was missing a cap, and had some snapped hardpoints when I got him.
It's important to note when looking at my photos, that the only sticker left on my Krark from his orginal sticker sheet is the yellow F1 under his left wing. The rest are all from the replica sticker sheet that comes with the NJR Salamander, so a few of the stickers on him that are red (nose, tip of tail) would be yellow, and he would have some Zenebas logos, if his previous owner hadn't used the bare minimum of stickers, been really slapdash about where they put them, and thrown the rest away...
