Review
Of all the Blade Liger variants out there, Mirage has got to be my favourite.
It was released as part of the Yuji Kaida line of Ltd Zoids and, unlike many of the other Blade Liger variants out there, it's not just a recolour, but also comes packaged with a black CP -12 Unit (Or “Attack Booster”).
Despite what I've heard from other Zoiders, Mirage's white, red and black colour scheme appeals to me more than any of the Blade Ligers, even without the CP-12, and the fact that Tomy also provided a brand new sticker sheet, complete with custom stickers, makes me think that more effort was put into this one. I was also glad to see that they'd kept the metal teeth and feet.
As far as its features go, Mirage does all the standard functions when the motor is turned on: Walks forward and opens and closes its mouth, but the inclusion of the CP-12 gives Mirage just that little bit more in the manual feature department.
As well as the blades and Shield flaps ability to be folded out and the hidden boosters in the back being able to be opened as is standard for Blade Ligers, you can also open CP-12 for booster mode, or turn them upside down for extra weaponry
My one big issue with this Zoid is that they included a standard grey pilot instead of the usual sprue of anime figures. That in itself is not really a problem, but the Mirage's cockpit really isn't built for a standard pilot.
Still, that's what blu-tac is for!
I wouldn't recommend this for casual collectors though, due to its price tag.
